At 15 years old, Tyra Fenton is already sprinting ahead of history.
Representing Roots Athletics Club, she has emerged as one of Antigua and Barbuda’s brightest young talents, pairing raw speed with discipline and competitive maturity beyond her years.
Tyra delivered a commanding performance at the annual Inter Schools Athletics Championships, earning Most Valuable Player honours. She captured gold in the Under-17 Girls’ 100 metres, 200 metres, and 400 metres, a remarkable achievement at her age. She also powered her school to victory in the Girls’ Open 4×100 metres relay and helped secure silver in the 4×400 metres relay.
The message was clear. She can carry a race. She can carry a team.
Then, the 2025 season became historic. At the CARIFTA Games, Tyra became the first Antiguan and Barbudan to win gold in the Under-17 Girls’ 400 metres, carving her name into national athletic history. She complemented that breakthrough with a bronze medal in the Under-17 200 metres, demonstrating both range and race intelligence.
Her performances reflected more than speed. They revealed tactical awareness, composure, and the confidence of an athlete comfortable on the regional stage.
