At 26 years old, Tariq Kienesberger has emerged as one of Antigua and Barbuda’s leading bodybuilding ambassadors. His2025 season was defined by structure, discipline, and historic achievement, built on a long-term commitment to intentional preparation and refined habits.

Domestically, his dominance was evident. At the National Championships in Antigua and Barbuda, Tariq was crowned Mr. Antigua Overall Champion in Men’s Bodybuilding and Overall Champion in Classic Physique. He also claimed titles in Classic Physique Class B and Men’s Lightweight Bodybuilding. In recognition of his exceptional progress and stage presence, he received the Breakout Athlete of the Year award and the prestigious Bernard Percival Best Poser Award.

At the Caribbean and Central American Championships, Tariq secured an impressive second-place finish in Men’s Bodybuilding. He also achieved a historic milestone, becoming the first athlete in Antigua and Barbuda’s history to capture Overall titles in both the Classic Physique and Men’s Bodybuilding divisions. That accomplishment alone marked a defining chapter not only in his career but also in the sport’s development locally. He further demonstrated his versatility with fourth- and fifth-place finishes in Classic Bodybuilding and Classic Physique, respectively.

Maintaining elite conditioning across categories and throughout a demanding season required meticulous preparation and unwavering focus.

The year, however, was not without challenges. Balancing preparation for international competition with professional and volunteer responsibilities demanded careful planning and sacrifice. Maintaining peak physical condition while managing a full schedule required discipline at every level. Ensuring adequate recovery throughout a packed competition season also tested his resilience. Those challenges reinforced the qualities that define success in bodybuilding: preparation, consistency, and mental strength.

When asked to describe his year in one word, Tariq chose intentional. Every training cycle, dietary adjustment, posing session, and stage appearance was approached with clarity and purpose. The results reflect not only physical transformation but also the power of deliberate effort applied over time.

For Tariq, being named Bodybuilder of the Year represents the culmination of years of consistent effort and disciplined execution. Bodybuilding is a sport where progress is measured in patience and precision. Success is built gradually through daily training sessions, structured nutrition, recovery management, and mental resilience. This recognition reflects that steady accumulation of work and reinforces the principle that long-term commitment yields lasting results.

He also views the honour as a responsibility. Many accomplished bodybuilders have proudly represented Antigua and Barbuda, laying the groundwork for the sport’s growth. Following in their footsteps is both a privilege and a reminder to uphold the standard they set. Tariq remains grateful for the opportunity to represent bodybuilding professionally. He is committed to the sport’s continued development and to inspiring others to pursue their goals with preparation, consistency, and discipline.

Winning Sportsman of the Year would carry even greater significance. Beyond personal achievement, Tariq posits that it would maintainbodybuilding’s established status as a respected and visible discipline within Antigua and Barbuda. The sport emphasises accountability, structure, and self-mastery, values that extend far beyond the stage. Tariq sees this recognition as an opportunity to represent the sport with professionalism and integrity.  A win would encourage broader participation and appreciation for bodybuilding’s transformative impact.
