
Leading the charge once again was Maliek Francis, who rose to the occasion in the Under-20 Javelin, securing bronze with a throw of 60.14m. It was a powerful and composed performance, reinforcing Antigua and Barbuda’s strength in the field events.
The morning session belonged to the sprinters.
Tyra Fenton powered through Heat 2 of the Under-17 Girls 200m, finishing 1st in 23.79 seconds to secure her place in the final. It was another confident display, keeping her firmly on track for another medal opportunity.
There were solid efforts across the sprint programme, with Geron Henry placing 3rd in Heat 2 (21.92s), narrowly missing the final, Kettia Ambrose finishing 4th in Heat 3 (24.67s), Delbert Joseph 6th in Heat 1 (21.73s), and Judah Ashe 5th in Heat 2 (22.06s). Each performance reflected the competitive standard of the meet and the continued development of Antigua and Barbuda’s sprint pool.
Day 2 was also defined by progress. Delbert Joseph (21.73) and Geron Henry (21.92) recorded personal bests in the 200m.
The afternoon session saw Jaeda Pigott clock 2:18.03 in the Under-17 Girls 800m, advancing with a strong and controlled run.
In the distance events, Shawn’zee Joseph (10:25.48) and Elite Thomas (10:31.62) both recorded personal best performances in the 3000m, highlighting steady growth in the middle-distance programme.
The Under-20 Boys 4x100m relay team ran 41.85, narrowly missing qualification after being edged out by the British Virgin Islands (41.51), underlining the fine margins at this level of competition.
And in field events, Naeem Simon – U17 High Jump ranked in 11th place.
With momentum building and confidence rising, attention now turns to the final day.
Day 3 – Final Day of Competition
Day 3 presents Antigua and Barbuda with multiple opportunities to close out the championships on a high.
The morning session opens with Zonique Charles in the Under-17 Javelin final, while the Under-17 Boys 4x400m relay team returns to the track aiming to translate strong individual performances into relay success.
By the evening, finals take center stage. Maliek Francis returns in the Under-20 Shot Put final, Jaeda Pigott lines up in the Under-17 Girls 800m final, and all eyes will be on Tyra Fenton in the Under-17 Girls 200m final, with history and another medal within reach.
Day 3 is about the final push! For Team Antigua and Barbuda, the adrenaline is real, and the mission is clear: Finish strong.
