Belt and Road Construction Powerhouse Commits to Region

During a recent engagement with media professionals, the management team of Power Construction Corporation of China stressed the importance of its Caribbean and Latin America collaborations. It affirmed plans to initiate more projects that drive sustainable development throughout the region.

 More commonly known as PowerChina, it is a wholly owned state company that provides investment and financing, planning design, engineering construction, equipment manufacturing, and operation management for infrastructure projects in China and internationally. The regional division PowerChina Americas recently celebrated twenty years of executing projects under the Belt and Road Initiative throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.



Antigua and Barbuda experienced the positive impact of PowerChina’s expertise through the construction of the polyclinics and community centers at Villa and Glanvilles. Company representative Geng Xingqiang indicated that projects such as the polyclinics have significantly improved local infrastructure and “injected new vitality into the nation’s economic and social development”.

PowerChina extended its involvement through community initiatives such as the Villa Lions football development program.

Vice President Eason Ho reiterated PowerChina’s unwavering commitment to fostering high-quality, sustainable development in the Caribbean and Latin America. He emphasized the company’s dedication to the human resource development component and the exposure of local staff to the latest technology used in their projects across the region.  He also expressed a high probability of being in Antigua and Barbuda by the middle of 2025 to open discussions on new projects.

He further added that PowerChina is committed to playing a pivotal role in the Caribbean and Latin America. The company aims to support and advance local energy, power, and infrastructure investments, thereby contributing significantly to the region’s sustainability goals.

The Regional Manager He Yuxin reinforced the importance of fostering clean energy development in the Caribbean, describing it as the way forward. A critical component along the path to Modernization.

This engagement with PowerChina was one of the assigned tours by media professionals from Caribbean and Latin American countries participating in the second edition of this year’s China International Press Communication Centre (CIPCC) media exchange programme.
