ABNOC Elects New Executive, Signals Action-Focused Four-Year Term

The Antigua and Barbuda Olympic Association (ABNOC) has confirmed the Executive that will guide the country’s Olympic movement for the next four years, following its Elective Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

The meeting produced a largely uncontested slate, with the only competitive race for First Vice President. In that contest, Thomas Greenaway defeated Neil Cochrane by a 23–10 margin, marking the sole change to the senior leadership team. All other executive positions were filled unopposed.

President: Hon. E. P. Chet Greene MP
1st Vice President: Thomas Greenaway
2nd Vice President: Dr. Philmore Benjamin
3rd Vice President: Karen Joseph
Treasurer: Yolanda Samuel

Ordinary Members: Charles Bellot, Franklyn Braithwaite, Kebra Nanton, Leonard Mussington, Shorna Charles-Joseph, Dionne Isaacs, Fitzroy Quinland

Following the installation of the Executive, the Board confirmed Cliff Williams as Secretary General and appointed Joel Rayne as Assistant Secretary General, maintaining administrative continuity.

Each federation carried two votes, except for netball, which carried one. Notably, the cricket association participated for the first time, exercising two votes following cricket’s inclusion as an Olympic sport. Swimming was absent from the proceedings. The newly elected Executive will serve a four-year term.

President Chet Greene, who has led the ABNOC since 2010, thanked member federations for their continued confidence and paid tribute to Neil Cochrane for his service over the past two executive cycles. He reaffirmed that the Association is firmly in action mode, emphasizing delivery, collaboration, and tangible outcomes for national sport development.

This term carries added significance following the adoption of a three-term presidential limit after a constitutional review in 2021. President Greene is now serving his penultimate term.

The AGM also recognized long service, honoring Wilbur Harrigan with a cruise in appreciation of his years of contribution to the Olympic movement.

Olympic elections rarely command public attention, yet they quietly shape how athletes experience their sporting lives. With the ABNOC Executive now confirmed, attention must shift from positions filled to systems delivered.

The Olympic environment is expanding. Cricket’s inclusion has already reshaped internal dynamics, while international qualification standards are becoming more technical and unforgiving. Athletes and federations are navigating rising costs, limited resources, and increasingly narrow preparation windows.

An action-focused term now demands visible coordination, clarity, and reliability. With constitutional term limits in place, this cycle carries responsibility not only for performance but also for institutional continuity. The true measure of success will be whether athletes feel increased positive impact long before the next AGM convenes.
